This Friday and Saturday John Piper is leading a seminar on his book, The Pleasures of God. There's still room to register, but if you can't attend in person we'd love for you to join us on the live-stream. You can watch the entire seminar online at desiringGod.org/live.

Here's the schedule:

Friday, 8:00 — 10:00 PM
Saturday, 10:00 AM — 1:00 PM (EDT)

The Pleasures of God is one of John Piper's most important books. It gets to the heart of God's joy in himself and how that's good news for us. The story of the book actually dates back to the 17th-century Scottish theologian, Henry Scougal.

John Piper was reading Scougal's small book, The Life of God in the Soul of Man, for a second time in the late-eighties when one sentence riveted his attention:

The worth and excellency of a soul is to be measured by the object of its love.

Piper writes of this sentence, "It took hold of my thought life in early 1987 and became the center of my meditation for about three months. What Scougal said in this sentence was the key that opened for me the treasure house of the pleasures of God."

The plan this weekend is to mine the treasure house. We hope you can join us!
