We recently observed the 9th anniversary of 9/11. The anniversary came in the midst of threats by a Florida pastor to burn the Qur’an, and a national debate on whether a mosque should be built near Ground Zero.
There are somewhere between 3-7 million Muslims in the US (and over 130,000 in the Twin Cities). Muslims are not "over there" in other parts of the world. They are our next-door neighbors. They are our co-workers and they are our classmates. We cannot ignore them, as the news all too often reminds us.
We know that Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations, yet many Christians are afraid to go to Muslims. We know that the gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe, and yet many Christians don’t think Muslims could ever be saved.
DG International Outreach, along with Harvest House Publishers and Moody Publishers, is happy to host "Loving Our Muslim Neighbors: A Pastoral Conversation with Thabiti Anyabwile and J. D. Greear" as a panel discussion at our National Conference.
As a former Muslim, Thabiti completely dispels the notion that Muslims can’t come to Jesus Christ for salvation. Both Thabiti and J. D. have had great experience in communicating the gospel to Muslims in the US and around the world.
For those of you who will be with us at the conference, join us Saturday, Oct. 2 from 4:30 - 5:30 PM to be encouraged and equipped to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to your Muslim friends and neighbors.
I encourage any of you, whether you can come to the conference or not, to check out their books that were published just this year: The Gospel for Muslims: An Encouragement to Share Christ with Confidence by Thabiti and Breaking the Islam Code: Understanding the Soul Questions of Every Muslim by J. D.
