Does studying the Bible feel overwhelming to you? You open it day after day, but nothing happens. You expect God to give you something profound or inspiring for the day, but you end up asking how this even relates to you at all.
To be clear, we have no hope of reading the Bible without God’s help by his Spirit. “These things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God” (1 Corinthians 2:10). But reading God’s Book by God’s Spirit is still reading.
Jen Wilkin wants to remind us that, while the Bible is an extraordinary book, it is still a book, and reading it isn’t as mystifying as we’re tempted to think. In two minutes, Jen reminds us of some of the basic training we all had in high school English, and gives us a few simple tips for finding what we need in any book, including the Book.
