Don't believe the lie. You really do have something to give. Mistakes from the past, the reality of your own struggles, a lack of biblical expertise — these mean nothing next to who you are in Jesus. You have him, you have the Holy Spirit, you have the word of God, you have spiritual gifts, you are a new creation, you are a fountain.
1 Thessalonians 2 is an invitation for us to watch Paul and walk the path of self-giving love. Following his example, our aim is to do more than simply give the gospel or teach biblical doctrine. We are called to give ourselves — our new selves — for the good of others.
As a Christian, you are a giver by nature. This is who you are. It's a matter of faith, not intellect or personality. Self-giving is part of your essence, your identity. And it's this kind of giving that brings us into a deeper reality of joy.
