The Passion movement began in 1997 when Louie Giglio and Jeff Lewis headed up a gathering of college students in Austin, TX. The movement has since met annually around the United States and the world under the banner of Isaiah 26:8.
Right now some 45,000 college students are gathering in Atlanta for Passion 2012 (watch the live-stream). John Piper is scheduled to speak Wednesday night at approximately 8:15 (EST). When asked about the event and how we should pray, Pastor John writes:
What do you say to 45,000 college students?
You say: Jesus Christ is supremely to be preferred above all things. For he is supreme over all things. As the Creator is supreme over the created. As the sustainer is supreme over the sustained. As the end is supreme over the means.
"All things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent."
Pray with Us!
We ask that you would pray with us for a mighty movement of God at this event, and for a ripple effect that reaches through this generation to touch the nations. These students represent 45,000 lifetimes that we pray would make an impact on this world for the glory of Jesus.
With Joshua, we ask the Lord, "And what will you do for your great name?"
